closet inspiration

I saw this closet on Pinterest and was reminded of that time I wrote this post about wanting to be a Minimalist. I can't believe that was almost 2 years ago and nothing has changed much. The thing I find most difficult is "where" to start. I keep thinking it's in the garage. But we had a yard sale just a couple of months ago, got rid of quite a LOT and yet it seems like we still have so much stuff. And so I'm thinking I need to take a more drastic step... and start with my wardrobe.

I hate getting rid of my clothes... HATE it. But when I'm staring at a jam packed closet and thinking I have nothing to wear (because it takes too long to sort through the double stacked hangers) something has got to be done. I want my closet to look this neat, maybe not so bare, but you know... neat, not over stuffed.
I read a tip about only having 40 hangers and choose based on that and I'm thinking whoa 40 hangers isn't even enough to cover my dresses! What about my pants, tops, jackets and skirts?  This is going to be TOUGH but I figure if I can do this I can definitely get started on the rest of my house with no regrets and I will be that much closer to becoming the minimalist I desperately want to be.

family day 10.12.2014

This past Sunday was our first official family outing since our little princess was born. It's crazy that she is almost 4 months old and the only place we have gone as a family is to Target and or any other store for shopping. I think we went to the park once but she was only a few weeks old and was asleep in the stroller the entire time.
So on Sunday my husband kept insisting that we go to this "taste of Encino" event. There were crafts, shopping, food and lots of those little freebies that Babe just loved collecting. He even got to take a picture with Ronald McDonald. And I got suckered into getting a monthly fruit/ veggie delivery service from a local farm. It's actually something I have been wanting to do but I'm worried we won't eat the fruit/ veggies fast enough before they spoil. Guess we'll see how it works out with our first box.

All in all, the outing was a success... thanks to my husband for insisting we all go

diy washi tape magnets

You know how you have a refrigerator magnet and at some point the magnet comes unglued from whatever it was sticking to?! Do you ever glue that piece back onto the magnet? I know I don't, I simply throw it in the trash. For one of 2 reasons ... 1. it was old and ugly anyway or 2. I'm just way to lazy to look for some glue. But washi tape, on the other hand, is much more accessible in my house and so ...

I think the process is pretty self explanatory...

I already put my magnets to good use at work.

back at work

3 weeks ago today I headed back to work after being gone for 14 weeks. So far it hasn't been as hard as I thought it would. Really, the hardest part has been waking up at 5:00am every morning! Upon returning to work, I started my new role as CAD manager, so my days seem to be very busy and tend to go by fairly fast (which is a good thing). I also have a 36 hour work week, which means I get to be home by 2:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays. I definitely miss being at home with my family but so far there seems to be a good balance between work and home. Now if only I can figure out how to balance everything at "home" ... husband, son, daughter, cooking, cleaning, exercising ... that's definitely a whole other post that I don't even know how to start! Any suggestions?!
